South West Upholstery began in a garden shed in Bristol, where John Ball, a trimmer for First Bus, took on work wit h his son Andy. John’s grandson Ryan grew up in it, learned the craft at his granddad’s side, and took the business on when he left school. He rebuilt it broader than the early bus-and-coach work: recovering pieces people want to keep, and making contract furniture for hospitality, design and architecture. Today it’s a family business under one roof on Novers Hill, making pieces built to last and remaking what ’s worth keeping.
